The authorities have reported that a teacher from Atlanta has just lost his job and is behind bars for repeatedly having sex with a female student. Jovan Burton, 35, was arrested on Monday and immediately charged for sexual assault. He used to be the band director Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy and B.E.S.T. Academy, northwest of Atlanta.

According to the student involved, they both had sex at different spots on the campus at a frequency of at least six times a month. Burton is said to be married and has two young daughters. It was reported that amidst the investigations, the teacher had resigned his appointment at the school.
Though in Georgia the age of consent stands at 16-years-old, it is still against the law for an educational officer to have sexual relations with a student in their charge. Burton is expected to make a second appearance in court on March 12 after he was denied bond at last Tuesday’s hearing.
