Fans of the late Marvin Gaye are overwhelmed with joy at a recent announcement by Motown records. Gaye would have been 80-years-old this year if he hadn’t been killed in 1984. To commemorate his 80th birthday, a couple of his unreleased songs will be compiled into an album by Motown.

VIBE reported that Gaye planned to release the album before his death but he was discouraged because of the response to the first single. Initially, the album was meant to be a follow up to “What’s Going On,” his 1971 album. Another reason for stalling was that he is reported to have had a clash with Berry Gordy, a Motown executive, because of his political views.
