No doubt, time was of great essence to Nelson Mandela, a man who spent 27 years behind bars. So you tell that his wristwatch, which was one of his legacies put up at the exhibition which held in London, was very important to him. The watch was always set to South African time regardless of Mandela’s location on the planet.

The exhibition, which was interactive in nature, took participants through a journey of the former South African President’s life. From his birth and upbringing as the son of a chief in the rural Eastern Cape to the time he spent behind bars and his rise to the highest office in South Africa. Mandela is recognized as one of the greatest leaders of all time, he died at the age of 95 in 2013.

The materials put on display asides his wristwatch include travel documents, clothes, campaign posters, an unseen footage, and over a hundred other artifacts. The materials were loaned from the family of the late Nobel Laureate. London is the first on the list of cities to host the Mandela Exhibition tour titled, “Mandela: The Official Exhibition.”
The tour is expected to touch down at Mvexo, Mandela’s birthplace.
